The Mayor of Silves, Rosa Palma, delivered a check for 30 euros yesterday to the parish priest of Armação de Pêra, Fr. Joaquim Beato, corresponding to the subsidy granted by the local authority for the restoration works of the Church, after the robbery and fire who suffered in August of last year.
The church suffered damage that "forced the remodeling of the presbytery, the construction of a new altar, tabernacle, ambo and president's chair and the replacement of the roof."
According to the Municipality of Silves, "the wooden floor was also replaced by granite, fire safety equipment was installed and furniture for the sacristy was purchased, and the Church was reopened on 21 March."
