“Les souvenirs végètent dans un coin du cerveau” (memories circulate in a corner of the brain) is the name of the plastic arts exhibition by Maria Antónia Santos, which runs from today, the 3rd to the 30th of June, in the exhibition gallery of the Casa dos Condes (Municipal Library), in Alcoutim.
The plastic artist Maria Antónia Santos, was born in Lisbon, studied Decorative Arts, António Arroio from the Superior School of Fine Arts in Lisbon, Scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, studied tapestry at “École
National de Tapisserie d'Aubusson” and is a Member of the International Association des Arts Plastiques (UNESCO).
According to the artist, «my work is the apparent construction of a subjective reality, so I seek a relationship
intelligent between the visible and the imaginary, between the conscious and the unconscious».
The artist's curriculum includes awards such as Bronze Medal – Tapestry – Estoril; Honorable Mention in Painting – Barcelona; Honorable Mention in Painting – Estoi; 2me Prix ERA Art from Gdynia/Poland; and Tribute Medal – Portimão.
The artist has already had her works exhibited in several collective and individual exhibitions in various galleries in Portugal and Europe.
The exhibition is free of charge and is open at Casa dos Condes, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 16:30 pm.
