The mayor of Olhão António Pina accused the local PCP of "lying" by stating that the current executive decided to "impose" the 40 hours a week to the municipality's workers.
According to the mayor, the option for this regime is due to the fact that the Collective Labor Agreement was refused by the tutelage, "it is not up to the municipality to legislate or maintain a situation where we were in breach". And, he assures, he has already found a “legal solution” to maintain the 35 hours of weekly work.
"The Communist Party lies when it associates the Socialist Party of Olhão and the City Council with the decision of this Government to maintain the 40 hours of work a week", accused António Pina, adding that the matter "had already been clarified in a Chamber Session".
“We have always clearly stated that we are against this unfair measure, however, we have to have a sense of state and comply with the law, which is why we were unable to maintain the 35 hours. However, a solution has already been found to get around the 40-hour time.
