street captain willow mayan aljezurThe linking section between the ER267 and EN120, called Rua Capitão Salgueiro Maia, in Igreja Nova, in Aljezur, in an extension of about 660 meters, will be repaved and equipped with infrastructure, announced today the Municipality of Aljezur.

These works follow the recent repaving of the ER267 regional road, which connects the municipality of Aljezur to the neighboring municipality of Monchique.

This intervention on the ER267, over a length of 6,65 kilometers, was carried out on a stretch of road that, according to the municipality, "was in a very degraded state of conservation", therefore needing "urgent intervention".

The work improved access to the county's headquarters, «promoting gains at various levels, being an important contribution to the improvement of safety conditions and the quality of life of users». It also came to allow a “greater approximation of economic operators to the municipality of Monchique”.

However, stresses the Aljezur City Council, it was still necessary to «extend this intervention to the EN120, through Rua Capitão Salgueiro Maia, thus concluding the connection of the Transversal Serrano Axis to this national road».

To this end, the Municipality «submitted and recently approved a reprogramming of more than 100.000 euros to POAlgarve 21, with the objective not only of connecting the ER 267 to the EN120, but also to the “central” area of Aljezur, including the connection to the most of the existing public facilities in the village».

This reprogramming aims to "requalify" and "improve" the areas where the various services and social facilities are located, facilitating their access from the ER267 and EN120.
