Undergo pastry maker from the floodplain to the Castle of Aljezur is not easy. But that's exactly what will happen tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th, at the Meeting of Antique Bicycles.
The Meeting is an initiative of Tertúlia – Socio-Cultural Association of Aljezur and has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, as it is part of the DiVaM program, the program for the Promotion and Valorization of the Algarve's monuments. Well, the Castle of Aljezur is, precisely, a national monument.
A concentration of old bicycles – known by bakers – is scheduled for 10 am, next to the castle. The meeting includes a round trip to Praia da Amoreira, starting at 30:11 am in the square next to the castle, a snack on arrival at the beach and, on the return trip, a picnic at the castle from 00:15 pm.
This meeting seeks, according to the organizers, «to create bonds between people who love old bicycles and promote the sharing of knowledge and memories related to the use of this vehicle».
As it is not a sporting event, participation in the round trip to Praia da Amoreira requires prior registration, free but mandatory, which must be formalized with the organization, filling out the registration form provided at www.tertulia-aljezur.blogspot.pt .
Participants must bring their bicycle (with working brakes) and helmet, and may only attend the Meeting, at 10:30 am, or participate in all or only part of the programmed activities.
The confirmation and accreditation of entries will take place between 10:00 and 10:50 at the Castle of Aljezur.
Minors can only participate if accompanied by their parents or by another person who is legally responsible for them.
