The Orquestra Clássica do Sul and the Companhia de Dança do Algarve present the show “Matrioska”, in two sessions scheduled for the next 5th of June (Friday), at 21 pm, at Teatro das Figuras in Faro, and on June 7 (Sunday) at 18:30 pm, at the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa.
The Orchestra and the Dance Company share the stage to present Modest Mussorgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition”, under the musical direction of Rui Pinheiro, OCS principal conductor, and with choreography by Carolina Cantinho, Evgueni Beliaev and Natalia Abramova of the CDA .
The concert repertoire is completed with pieces by Russian composers, including Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Rachmaninoff and Glazunov, performed by the Orchestra.
Matrioska, a symbol of the Russian land, consists of a series of dolls embedded within others.
It is from this idea of superimposition that the concept is reached in the space of a gallery, where the various "Pictures of an Exhibition" are presented as different layers, in which the real and the imagined merge into a set of images and situations arising of Russian folk tales.
This is the motto for the concept to be presented in these shows, which have the support of the Municipal Theater of Faro and the City Council of Lagoa.
Tickets cost 12,50 euros, with 50% discount for children under 12 years old.
