In the early morning of May 23, the Quarteira GNR arrested a 20-year-old man for possession of a prohibited weapon. The detainee, who is suspected in an investigation for offenses to physical integrity, aggravated threat and kidnapping of a minor, was approached by the military in one of the main streets of the city of Quarteira, carrying a handcrafted firearm.
According to the GNR, "in addition to the aforementioned weapon, which was hidden inside the coat that the individual was wearing, the military also seized a bladed weapon (used in carrying out the crime of offenses to physical integrity, aggravated threat and kidnapping), a cartridge and a mobile phone».
Following the approach, the GNR carried out a house search of the man's residence, located in Quarteira, and also seized, in addition to six cartridges, an LCD, a laptop, a sound system and five mobile phones, which the guard refers to as “objects presumably resulting from the illicit activity carried out by the same”.
The detainee, already with a criminal record, was presented to the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of the Public Ministry of Faro for the application of enforcement measures.
