Faroway hostelThe safety and quality of local accommodation in the region will be discussed at the seminar «Local Accommodation as an asset for the tourism industry in the Algarve». The initiative, which is organized by the Algarve Tourism Region and Safe Communities Algarve, takes place at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, on April 21, at 14 pm, with the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism.

 

Individual property owners, rental entrepreneurs and property managers are some of the recipients of the seminar which, according to the organization, «promotes high quality standards in local accommodation and highlights the Algarve as a safe destination to live and visit».

 

The diploma that establishes the legal regime for the operation of local accommodation establishments (decree-law No. 128/2014, of 29 August) will be the subject of the presentation carried out by Turismo de Portugal, and also the ASAE, the SEF , the Judiciary Police and the GNR will intervene at the seminar.

The occasion will also serve for the launch of a new association of local accommodation, NASLE – National Association for Local Lodging Establishments.

 

At the opening of the seminar, the president of the City Council of Faro, Rogério Bacalhau, the president of Safe Communities Algarve, David Thomas, the vice president of the Algarve Tourism Region, João Fernandes, the president of AMAL, Jorge Botelho, and the secretary of State for Tourism, Adolfo Mesquita Nunes.

 

Admission is free, but participation is subject to registration (limited to room capacity).

The seminar will be in English, «in order to involve the foreign community residing in the Algarve».
