air routeThose interested in the concession of air services on the new Bragança-Vila Real-Viseu-Cascais-Portimão route must present their proposals by the 27th of May, so that the route can start operating, probably on the 1st of July.

Initially it was announced that the air connection would start operating a month earlier, on June 1st, but contest deadlines make this impossible.

The announcement of the public tender for the award, under a concession, of the «Regular Air Services» of the route that will link the north interior to the south of the country for a period of three years, has already been published by the Government in Diário da República.

The tender provides for a maximum expenditure of 7,8 million euros for a period of 36 months, according to a resolution of the Council of Ministers of December 18, 2014.

In January of this year, in a rectification to that resolution of the Council of Ministers, it was determined that the State will only be able to pay, in 2015, a maximum of 650 euros to the air carrier that will carry out the route.

The amount for 2016 may go up to 2,6 million euros (excluding VAT), the same amount indicated for 2017. For 2018, the maximum amount set out in the diploma is 1,95 million euros. The four installments make up the maximum estimated expenditure of 7,8 million euros.

In the Algarve, the base of this route will be the Municipal Aerodrome of Portimão.
