Ferragudo has had an Urban Garden since last Saturday, which is, by the way, the first in the entire municipality of Lagoa.
The Council of this Parish of the municipality of Lagoa chose the 25th of April to launch this community facility, which has ten plots for organic farming and is located in Urbanização Cerca do Moinho, on land provided by the municipality.
The creation of this garden aims, “in the first instance, to provide the needy with a place where they can grow vegetables, vegetables and tubers, ensuring their sustainability, as well as any surplus to be sold in small monthly fairs in the area”.
«The use of the plots, in the first year, will be free, and agreements for the use of the space will be signed with each garden, where each will have its own set of tools and seeds, as well as a joint place for storing tools and composting places, piped water and garden of aromatic plants», according to the Parish Council of Ferragudo.
The spaces should start to be cultivated at the beginning of next month, after a training action, which will be promoted in collaboration with the Municipality and the Regional Directorate of Agriculture.
This project also has the collaboration of the Maritime Scouts Group of Ferragudo CNE 413, which collaborated in the construction of spaces for compacting, signage and flyers of dissemination.
