One person died and eight were injured, two of them seriously, following the runaway of a Frota Azul bus, which would be at the service of RENEX, on the EN125 between the Guia roundabout and the Zoomarine theme park, in Albufeira, which occurred this Thursday, around noon.
The bus collided head-on and violently with a building, causing the death of the driver of the vehicle, he revealed to the Sul Informação the District Relief Operations Center (CDOS) of Faro. An INEM helicopter was sent to the site, in case there was a need to evacuate the seriously injured, but these were eventually transported to the Hospital of Faro by ambulance.
The remaining wounded were transported either to the Hospital de Portimão or to the Health Center in Albufeira, depending on the severity of their injuries.
The CDOS said that the bus was still carrying nine people on board and that actions were still taking place to expel the mortal victim, at around 13:15 pm today.
The accident also caused extensive damage to the building the bus hit, a residential house located on the side of the EN125 road.

In addition to the INEM helicopter and two ambulances, 40 operatives and 19 firefighters, GNR and Red Cross vehicles were at the scene.
Traffic was cut off for long hours in both directions due to this accident, the causes of which are yet to be determined.
