The program of activities for “April, days of music and freedom” starts this Thursday, at 21 pm, with the “displacement” of the Rádio Universitária do Algarve broadcast to the ARCM headquarters. Manuel Amorim, author of the program “Quinta da Música” invites José Maria, musician at “Ecos de Coimbra” for an hour of live broadcasting, in a radio program, where the music of Intervenção and the singing of Protest in Portugal are protagonists. On the same day, at 00 pm, the documentary with “Alentejo, Alentejo”, by Sérgio Tréfaut, about Alentejo polyphonies will be screened. The film begins with “Grândola, Vila Morena” sung by the Coral Group of the Sindicato Mineiro de Aljustrel and has the participation of numerous groups, mixing short statements by the singers with vocal interpretations, in informal and everyday situations, as per example, at the table and in the making of a pancake...
The exhibition of the documentary works, according to the association, as an «aperitif for the Saturday afternoon activity, where the Sing Alentejo will stand out», since the Grupo Coral de Alvito “Papa Borregos”, is the guest of ARCM for an afternoon of “Sing & Petisco, with a touch of Viola Campaniça”.
The activity takes place at 17 pm, and the ARCM «intends to welcome in the best possible way these friends who, together with so many other groups, singers, collectivity and entities, promoted Cante Alentejano's Candidature for Intangible Heritage of Humanity».
To accompany the appetizer and share stories and experiences, José Marques da MODA – Associação do Cante Alentejano will be present.
For Wednesday night, April 22, an “Open Stage” is scheduled. The evening starts at 21:30 pm with "Guitar and Contraband", a project dedicated to the smuggling of songs between the street and the stage, now performing solo, with music that “dispels borders”. The poems, songs and performances will emerge as the audience assumes its intervening role on stage.
