On siteAssociação In Loco presented three applications for community funds for local development in different areas of the Central Algarve. The projects cover parishes from different municipalities, namely Albufeira, Silves, Loulé, Faro, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira and Olhão.

The most comprehensive application, which brings together all these councils and involves 38 public and private entities from various economic and social sectors in the region, was submitted to the regulatory and financial instrument «Local Community-Based Development» (DLBC), provided for under Portugal 2020 .

This application, which covers a territory designated as the Interior of the Central Algarve, which comprises 18 parishes from the seven municipalities involved, with a total population of around 81 thousand inhabitants, provides for «support to public and private agents for the diversification of the economy rural-based, strengthening the attractiveness of the territory, valuing quality local products, boosting short production and consumption circuits, producing skills for entrepreneurship and employability, increasing business networks, improving people's skills. and of organizations, the promotion of social inclusion, among others».

Alongside the proposal presented for the interior of the Central Algarve, two more applications were also submitted for urban areas, namely, «City for Inclusion», covering the parishes of Almancil, Quarteira and São Clemente, in the municipality of Loulé, and «Olhão, for Employment and Inclusion”, for the parishes of Olhão and Quelfes.

«These two strategies rely on the partnership of municipalities and various social organizations, and bet on three main lines of action: the reinforcement of employability and entrepreneurship; the strengthening of social inclusion and cohesion; and the qualification of the associative fabric and social organizations», described In Loco.

"The articulation between the three candidacies will allow to reinforce the action of the partnerships and ensure an important and necessary coherence in the interventions, promoting the emergence of initiatives that can be articulated with each other, simultaneously benefiting the rural and urban populations of the intervention territories", added the Algarve local development association.
