aljezurThe conference «Preventive Conservation and Archives: Levels of Implementation», scheduled for 15 pm tomorrow, March 00, at Espaço+, in Aljezur, is the highlight of a whole day dedicated to archives and heritage, in that village on the Costa Vicentina .

In an initiative of the Association for the Defense of the Historical and Archaeological Heritage of Aljezur (ADPHA), and integrated in the National Day of Historic Centers and in the cycle «Between Archives», the journey starts at 10:00 am, in Largo do Mercado, from where about four dozens of expected participants will depart for a historical and cultural circuit, along which all museum centers in the village will be visited, culminating with a visit to the association's headquarters.

There, according to José Marreiros, a member of the board, the historical archive of Aljezur is kept, “so abandoned”. During this visit by the group, which mainly comprises technicians and those responsible for the Algarve archives network, some of the works stored at the headquarters of ADPHA will be exhibited.

At the end of this cultural journey, the conference will take place, led by Luís Pereira.

«Between Files» is a project signed by the University of Évora and which aims to carry out a cycle of conferences in the area of archiving. This initiative aims to bring specialists to the different Algarve Archives, on a Saturday of each month.

“The discussion is fundamental when we talk about themes whose pertinence is reflected in the daily lives of archival professionals”, emphasize the promoters.

The project is carried out under the Doctoral Program in Information and Documentation Sciences.

Admission to the conference is free and confers a certificate to the participants.
