President Luis Gomes_CM VRSA_2Luís Gomes is the mayor of Vila Real de Santo António and also leader of the PSD District in the Algarve, but he has no doubts: «the mayors of Sotavento were deceived», by the Government and Estradas de Portugal, in the process of requalification of the EN125 .

In an interview with Sul Informação, the president of the Algarve PSD says: “I am very sorry to say this, but what they are doing regarding the qualification of the EN125 does not correspond to the truth of what was announced. I say this with deep regret, because it was the announcement of the Government of the party where I have political responsibilities».

Recalling a meeting at AMAL headquarters, in Faro, with the president of Estradas de Portugal, Luís Gomes points out that the rescue of the EN125 concession, in the VRSA/Faro, which thus passed back to the jurisdiction of that company, as a «good solution for the Algarve». However, he regrets that the promises were not kept: “I was clearly told that the works would start right after the summer.

EN125«If we say that we are going to have this ready in January, it is to have it ready in January, not in the following December, almost a year later. The word is important in politics», stressed the leader of the Algarve Social Democrats.

"It seems that there is a problem with the Court of Auditors", explaining the delay in starting the intervention on the EN125, he admits. «But then they hadn't come to the Algarve, almost treating us like provincial jerks, and saying: let's go fool these guys, we'll throw sand in their eyes».

“For me, party responsibilities do not override the truth. And truth means respect. As an Algarvian and as a mayor, I feel completely disrespected. I clearly think that the mayors of Sotavento were deceived”, concluded the social democrat Luís Gomes, in his interview with Sul Informação.
