Antonio CovasAntónio Covas is the guest of another conference as part of the “Horizontes do Futuro” cycle, which takes place on February 26, at 21 pm, in the Salão Nobre of the Paços do Concelho de Loulé. The full professor at the University of Algarve presents the theme “The Future of Local Power Management”.

Born in Vidigueira, António Covas has been a full professor at the University of Algarve since 2000. He was a professor at the University of Évora and obtained the Degree of Aggregation from the University of Évora. He holds a PhD in European Affairs from the Free University of Brussels. He was also a visiting professor at the FCT at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, at ISCTE and at the Instituto Superior Naval de Guerra.

He performed other functions, namely that of member of the Ibero-American Network for Governance and Territorial Development, of the Citizenship and Territory Collaborative Network, National Councilor for Education (CNE), member of the Management Committee of the Sustainable Algarve, PROVERE, member of the Management Unit of PRODER ALGARVE CENTRAL, member of the Management Unit of PRODER DO BAIXO GUADIANA, non-executive member of the Executive Committee of the Operational Program of the Algarve Region, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture (1995-2000), Pro-Rector and Vice-Rector of the University of Évora (1991-1995).

He was also responsible for research and development projects, namely in the area of ​​European Studies and Rural and Territorial Studies. He has several works and studies published in these areas.
