fitur_1The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) will be present at the 2015 edition of the International Tourism Fair – FITUR, which takes place between January 28th and February 1st, in Madrid.

To promote the region's tourism in this proximity market, the Algarve's main bets for this year will be presented, not only for the summer, but also for other times of the year.

For the president of RTA Desidério Silva, «being at FITUR is very important since the Algarve is the biggest tourist destination in Portugal. It is essential to make known its reality and its potential, as the Algarve is not just sea, sun and golf, but it is also nature tourism, water sports, adventure in the mountains and its fantastic cuisine, among other aspects. and values ​​that should be taken into account when deciding on a holiday destination'.

As part of the promotional plan for the Algarve region for foreign markets, RTA will integrate the Turismo de Portugal stand at FITUR, through its own module located in pavilion 4.

The stand will also feature the Balcão Prove Portugal, where there will be wine tastings and other excellent national products, framed within the scope of the promotion of Portuguese gastronomy «Prove Portugal».

The Algarve, in partnership with Algarve Wine Route, will have rosés, whites and reds for tastings, and will distribute passports from this route.

fitur_2The Feria Internacional de Turismo is an annual meeting point for international tourism professionals and the leading fair for Ibero-America's inbound and outbound markets.

The 2014 edition had more than 9 exhibiting companies from 165 countries and regions, around 120 professional participants and 97 visitors.

More than 7 journalists from 60 countries were also present, which highlights the importance of FITUR in the international circuit of tourism fairs.

The Algarve is the main tourist region in Portugal: last year it recorded more than 16 million overnight stays and revenues above 665 million euros.

Between January and October 2014, the number of Spanish tourists in the Algarve increased by 28,4% in guests and 26,8% in overnight stays, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the first ten months of 2014, the Algarve region was visited by more than 267 Spanish tourists, according to data from the National Statistics Institute.
