LagosThe Municipal Master Plan (PDM) of Lagos will enter into a period of public discussion between the 15th of January and the 4th of March, that is, over 35 working days, the Câmara de Lagos has just announced.

«More than 12 years after the Municipality of Lagos decided to resume the process of drawing up the Municipal Master Plan – starting from that time (February 2002) on all the procedures leading to its implementation – this instrument has now arrived at a of its most important stages, the opening of the Public Discussion period», stresses the municipality.

As part of this public discussion, two clarification sessions will be held, the first of which will be held on January 22, at 21 pm, in the Auditorium of the Paços do Concelho Building XXI Century. The second session will be announced in due course.

The documents that make up this important instrument for spatial planning are, during the period mentioned, on display for consultation in the Building of Paços do Concelho XXI Century.

Participation in the Public Discussion can also be carried out via the Internet, through the Municipality's Virtual Desk (www.cm-lagos.com).

During this period, technicians from the Urban Planning, Licensing and Inspection Division of CM Lagos will also provide the necessary clarifications on the elements of the Municipal Master Plan.

With regard to Parish Councils, this procedure will also be carried out, and information will be provided one day a week (to be determined) upon registration and prior knowledge of the doubt/question raised.

The main generic objective of the PDM is «to implement a spatial planning policy in accordance with the guidelines of the Regional Planning for the Territory of the Algarve (PROTAL), as well as other indications contained in other plans and studies of territorial incidence, while strengthening the image of the Municipality of Lagos as an innovative and competitive territory, socially cohesive and culturally and scientifically active, in line with its historical and maritime tradition of relationship with the Sea and the seat of the Portuguese Discoveries».

The municipality recalls that "it was a long and complex journey to" the opening of the public discussion process, preceded "by the approval of the Plan Proposal (including Environmental Report, Proposal for the Delimitation of the National Ecological Reserve and the Proposal for the Delimitation of the National Agricultural Reserve) , at the Chamber Meeting of July 16, 2014 and subsequently, at the 6th and last meeting of the Monitoring Committee, held on August 27, 2014, which was also followed by a set of procedures, namely, the holding of concertation meetings, for the Plan to reach the present stage».
