consignment work en124Last Friday, the Loulé Council signed the consignment document for the improvement work on the EN124, between Barranco do Velho and the municipality boundary (Monte da Charneca), in the parish of Salir.

This intervention, which will benefit the county's interior road network and reinforce safety, starts on the EN124, near the village of Barranco do Velho, and moves west, ending at Monte da Charneca, over a total length of 29,573 kilometres. The work was awarded for the value of close to 1,5 million euros and will have an execution period of 210 days.

The contract includes the complete repaving of the road circulation platform, sanitation and restoration of degraded areas, improvements in the conditions of rainwater drainage, regularization of berms and improvement of vertical and horizontal signage.

The existing platform will be completely reused, so the geometric characteristics of the track will be maintained.

In sanitized areas, the pavement will be rebuilt. A junction will also be reformulated, whose current characteristics do not comply with the road safety criteria in force.

Regarding drainage, the ditches will be cleaned and re-profiled, with hydraulic passages being carried out, in order to guarantee the continuity of the longitudinal flow of rainwater.

Also included in this project are the exterior remodeling in various areas, with urban treatment in the inhabited areas being foreseen, namely with the introduction of paving in pavement.
In these areas, the threshold levels of the existing entrances and sidewalks will be respected and the slopes necessary for an adequate drainage of rainwater, as well as the mobility of pedestrians, will be guaranteed.

The vertical and horizontal signage will be revised, with the vertical signage being reinforced and the horizontal signage reformulated. Security guards will also be introduced in areas that are considered to be dangerous.
