Querença Lemons MarketLemon will be the main product of another market in Querença, which will take place tomorrow, Sunday, in the village of Loulé, which gives it its name. The event takes place from 10 am to 13 pm, at Largo da Igreja Matriz.

The star of the January edition of the market is a product abundant in the region, which is «a strong ally in preventing colds and used in numerous recipes, namely in infusions». “During this event, you will be able to taste some of the most popular lemon infusions in the region and learn, with the locals, some tricks to reinforce the fight against that disease”, revealed the Querença project, in a press release.

In addition, and as usual, visitors will find numerous fresh, local products, including vegetables, fruits, honey or even wine. There will also be a variety of handicrafts, such as contract work, leather work or sewing.

Parallel to the event, at 10 am, the activity “Walk to Porto Nobre to discover the limestone tradition” will be promoted, as part of the future “Rota da Cal”.

«Those who participate in this walk will have the opportunity to discover the traces of artisanal lime production still present in the Querença landscape, understand the lime transformation process and the importance that this activity once held in the region. In Porto Nobre you can find a lime kiln which, although inactive for several decades, is well preserved and has all the elements that allow us to understand how it works», reveals the organization. The activity will last 2 hours and cost 3 euros.

The Querença Market, started in 2011 by the young people of «Projecto Querença», is today «an activity that has been fully welcomed by the community, which has significantly contributed to the animation of that village and favored the self-esteem of the population and the local economy».
