judiciary PoliceThe body of a British woman, Brenda, 72 years old, who had been missing since November, was found this Tuesday, around 20:15, by the Judiciary Police, buried in the backyard of the house where she lived, in Alcalar, in the interior of the municipality of Portimao.

The Judiciary Police have already announced, in a statement, the arrest of the victim's husband, a 59-year-old British man, who is now the suspect in the crime of aggravated homicide of his partner.

According to the newspaper “Correio da Manhã”, the woman's body was found under a cement slab, in the backyard of the house in Alcalar.

After being interrogated by the Judiciary Police, it was the woman's husband who indicated the place where she was buried. However, according to CMTV, the man alleged that the woman committed suicide, and he later buried the body in the backyard.

The CM adds that the victim's son is in Portugal and it was he who gave the alert for the mother's disappearance. As a matter of fact, the lady's disappearance started to be reported in England, with the family alerting the Portuguese authorities only in the last few days.

The body was removed by firefighters, GNR and PJ, around 21:00 yesterday, and the husband was arrested shortly after on suspicion of being the author of this crime. The judiciary sent elements of the scientific police to the scene to collect forensic evidence inside and outside the home.

The detainee will be present at the first judicial interrogation to apply the coercive measures deemed appropriate. The investigations continue, under the responsibility of the PJ.
