RATE_10The Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer of the University of Algarve (CRIA) will end its participation in the Sha.pes Project at the end of this year. Sharing prior excellence and support for the MED creative asset, co-financed by the MED Capitalização program.

Sha.pes brought together 13 partners from nine Mediterranean regions who worked to promote creativity, knowledge and innovation in the social, economic and cultural areas.

The project also had the participation of entities from other regions and countries, with UAlg having chosen as external partners for the work the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (Portugal) and the Anglia Ruskin University (England).

For Alexandra Gonçalves, regional director of Culture of the Algarve, participation in Sha.pes fit perfectly with the mission of that organization: «support for the Arts, creative industries and culture involves knowing and sharing experiences in practice in the region , but also in other European countries and especially those that make up the Mediterranean region».

It also highlights the opportunities that this project provided, namely the possibility of «participation in fairs to present invited companies from the creative and cultural sector, as well as institutional partners», highlighting these initiatives as «an excellent opportunity for co-work and definition of marketing methodologies for the future'.

shapesDeveloped over 18 months, the activities included technical meetings between the partnership, five knowledge seminars, 11 local forums, creation of a common model to assess territorial innovation, an online resource center (Toolbox Shapes), three international fairs e nine creativity labs.

In general, these activities made it possible to develop and organize interregional actions aimed at entities, companies and professionals in the areas of Culture, Arts, Design and Media.

The participation of Ualg, as a partner entity of this project, made it possible to know directly the state of the art, creativity, innovation and governance in each country and, thus, try to implement, in the academic core and in the region, good practices and methodologies which have been developed internationally.

Sha.pes enabled the creation of a European network more oriented towards cultural and creative industries, with a view to consolidating future partnerships and experiences that enhance the economic and social development of regions and countries.

Thus, the will of the partners, entities and people who participated in this project is, in the future, to organize more actions and training, to establish networks of contacts, thinking and active groups.

After a year and a half of project execution, the Sha.pes partnership is meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, today and tomorrow, from December 18th to 19th, to conclude and make a final balance.
