summer christmasThe Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere has just released its weather forecast for the Christmas and New Year period and the prospects are good: sun, cold but not too much, some clouds and maybe rain, but only at the end of the year and in the North.

Thus, this weekend and until the 23rd, it is expected, in general, light cloudy or clear skies, with the formation of mists or morning mists, which may persist in some places in the interior North and Center.

The wind will be generally light from the eastern quadrant, blowing temporarily moderately along the southern coast of Cabo Mondego and in the highlands.

The maximum temperatures will vary between 15 and 18ºC, except in the North and Center interior, where they will vary between 9 and 13ºC.

The minimum temperatures will vary between 4 and 7ºC, being between -2 and 2ºC in the North and Center interior and between 7 and 10ºC in the Algarve.

For the period between the 24th and the 26th, the sky should generally be slightly cloudy, the wind will generally be light from the northern quadrant and temperatures should not change significantly.

Also according to the IPMA, towards the end of the year the weather could get a little worse, especially in the North and Center regions. Thus, from the 27th to the 2nd of January, there is a probability of precipitation between 35 and 65% in the regions north of the Montejunto-Estrela mountain system and between 5 and 35% in the south of that system.
