PSPThe District Command of Faro This Wednesday, December 3, at 11:00 am, the PSP signs a protocol with five institutions that work locally in the area of ​​disability and rehabilitation, under the Special Program «Significativo Azul».

In the Algarve, this local protocol will be signed with the Portuguese Cerebral Palsy Association of Faro, the Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Diminished Children (Faro), Lucinda Anino dos Santos Social Assistance Center (Lagos), Specialized Nucleus for Inclusive Citizens (Lagos) and Irene Rolo Foundation (Tavira).

In all districts of Portugal, more than 160 Local Protocols will be signed, between all PSP Commands and institutions, under the Special Program «Significativo Azul», which aims to «contribute to the safety of people with intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities'.

December 3rd marks the World Day of Persons with Disabilities sanctioned by the United Nations since 1998, an event that the PSP materializes with this national signature and which will contribute, according to that police, «to the defense of dignity, rights and good being of people with disabilities'.

These events are the culmination of training actions that covered around 600 professionals from the PSP and from the different institutions operating in this area, and will prepare the second phase, which will allow the «carrying out of Awareness Actions by the PSP to the professionals of the institutions, to people with deficiency; and to the relatives of people with disabilities", "increase training actions carried out by the PSP to professionals of institutions and informal meetings to exchange information", and also "visits and training actions by professionals and clients of the institutions (who will sign this local protocol ) to the Police».

This initiative stems from the national protocol signed on September 6, 2013, which brought together the Public Security Police, the National Federation of Social Solidarity Cooperatives (FENACERCI), the National Institute for Rehabilitation (INR) and the National Confederation of Solidarity Institutions (CNIS).
