EusébioThe Loulé Council will name the south avenue that gives access to the Algarve Stadium the name of Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, the “Black Panther”. The tribute to the one who is considered one of the best footballers of all time, who died in January 2014, was approved at the last Chamber Meeting.

«The importance of this personality, worldwide, in the field of sport, but also the fact that he is considered a symbol of Portugal, which, thanks to his talent and dedication, achieved notoriety abroad, were the main reasons that led to this decision. Loulé municipality that wanted to join, in this way, the various tributes to the “Black Panther”», revealed the City Council of Loulé.

The local authority also recalls that Eusébio, «throughout his career, both at the service of Sport Lisboa e Benfica and that of the National Team, was often praised for his well-known fair play and humility».
