PSPThe PSP has been carrying out, for a few hours, an operation to combat drug trafficking in the social district Horta da Areia, in Faro. So far, seven men have been arrested and, according to television station SIC Notícias, there will be an eighth member of the group at large, who "may be armed and considered dangerous" by the authorities.

As revealed to SIC the PSP superintendent of Faro Viola Silva, the elements of the network were previously identified and were all caught, except one. “He is a man who must be desperate. You know, for sure, that the proof is done and that drugs have been discovered in your house. It is suspected that the individual is armed and he is dangerous», he warned.

At the moment, more than 40 police officers are involved in the searches for this man, who are supposed to be the leader of the group. “He must be barefoot, so if anyone sees him, they should call the police. He's a man about six feet five, with a beard and full of tattoos. (…) The last indication we have is that he has fled in the direction of the exit to Olhão and that is where we are concentrating our searches».

The investigation, which culminated in this operation, had been going on for "months" and allowed not only to dismantle a drug trafficking network, but also to apprehend hashish, cannabis and heroin, in eight homes.
