The PJ identified and arrested a man who led, from the Algarve, an international criminal organization, which provided women for prostitution, in several European capitals. The detainee was wanted by the French justice for the crimes of criminal association, pimping and money laundering, and must be handed over to the French authorities.
The operation that allowed the arrest of the 55-year-old man was carried out by the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police, which also seized «about eight thousand five hundred euros, eleven thousand British pounds, a high-end motor vehicle, three computers, four mobile phones and various items of jewellery'.
“Bank accounts with deposits worth two hundred thousand euros” were also seized. The detainee will be present at the Court of Appeal in Évora, to find out what coercive measures will be applied to him, before his eventual extradition to France.
