Jordi_SavallJordi Savall, Catalan gambist, conductor and composer, a leading figure in the international panorama of Early Music, is the leading figure at the XVI Meeting of Ancient Music in Loulé, which began on 3rd and runs until October 25th, with concerts in several spaces of the county.

Jordi Savll's show is scheduled for October 18, at 21 pm, at the Igreja Matriz in Loulé. With the participation of percussionist Pedro Estevan, he will perform a program entitled Orient/Occident: Dialogue des Musiques Anciennes & des Musiques du Monde.

Marking the importance of Savall's presence, musicologist Rui Vieira Nery will present, on the same day, the 18th, but at 18 pm, at Alcaidaria do Castelo de Loulé, a lecture on the Catalan musician, scholar, educator and creator of new projects for the valorization of old music.

The Encontro brings to the Algarve the best soloists and groups that intend to disseminate repertoire between the Middle Ages and the late XNUMXth century, always bearing in mind the concern with historically informed interpretations, both in terms of vocal and instrumental music.

The event started on Friday, the 3rd, with the together Baroque Contagion to present, in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Quarteira, a program filled in full with sonatas by composer Johann Ernst Galliard.

On Saturday night, it was time to listen to the Cantigas de Amigo by Martim Codax and Música da Diaspora and “make a journey”, performed by the group Sete Lágrimas, in the second concert of this festival, which had as stage the Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, in Querença.

seven tearsOn October 11, in Alte, at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, flutist Michael Form and harpsichordist Dirk Börner will perform a program entirely dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach, with pieces derived from the brilliant master's sonatas, partitas, suites and cantatas. baroque.

Italian madrigals in the books of vihuela XNUMXth century are the theme of the concert program of the singing duo and vihuela formed by Délia Agundez & Manuel Minguillón Nieto. The show takes place on the 17th, at the Igreja de S. Lourenço, in Almancil.

Closing this year's Meeting, on October 25th, at the Igreja de S. Sebastião, in Boliqueime, there will be a concert with young people from the Ensemble of Flutes of Loulé and the Ensemble of Ancient Music of the National Conservatory (EMCN), with a designated program Customize with ogni luck di stromenti.

All concerts start at 21 pm.

Also at this Meeting, in addition to a lecture by Rui Vieira Nery, a solo flute Masterclass is scheduled under the guidance of Michael Form (Atletico building, October 12, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 15:00 pm to 18:00 pm).
