Riverside Park of Faro_1The Riverside Park of Faro will finally be officially opened this Sunday. This is one of the three inaugurations that mark the Day of the Municipality of Faro, which takes place on September 7th, together with Escola da Lejana and ETIC Algarve – School of Technologies, Innovation and Creation, which settled in the Algarve capital after several years in Portimão.

These will be the highlights of the day's program, which begins with a solemn session at the Paços do Concelho de Faro, where personalities and entities will be distinguished.

The winners, in 2014, will be ADFA - Association of the Disabled of the Armed Forces - Delegation of Faro; CASA- Support Center for the Homeless- Delegation of Faro; Algarve Foundation for Social Development; Professor João Pinto Guerreiro; Dr. Leonardo Abreu; League of Combatants of the Great War - Core of Faro; Actor Luís Vicente; Safe School Nucleus of the Special Programs Section of the Republican National Guard Detachment of Faro and the Public Security Police's Safe School Program.

At 11:30 am, the Parque Ribeirinho de Faro, «an old yearning of the Farenses», whose work was carried out within the scope of the Polis Ria Formosa, concluding a process launched about 15 years ago. These days, there are already many people enjoying the park, since the heaviest works have long been completed, but the solemn act to make official the transfer of the work to the municipality was lacking.

«With this inauguration, long awaited by all, the entire riverside area that runs from Panasqueira to Pontes de Marchil, so far poorly used and without any organized recreational use, will be the leisure and leisure park that the city deserves and needs for a long time. a long time in the strategic plan of meeting his Ria again», considered the Chamber of Faro.

This educational establishment “represented a titanic effort that forced the municipality, even in a process of rebalancing, to mobilize many of its available resources”. “The EB da Lejana advances to modernize and expand the educational offer in basic and pre-primary education and also to alleviate the student load in other schools in the county”, illustrated the municipality. The opening is scheduled for 16:30 pm.

At 18 pm, another school opens, but for a very different audience. ETIC Algarve, «the largest learning center in the South of the country in the area of ​​creative industries», saw the Faro municipality give it a large space in the Municipal Market and has already carried out the necessary adaptation works to make it its training hub. main.

The program also includes an Equestrian Parade through the streets of the city, scheduled for 10:30 am, provided by the Amigos do Cavalo Equitation Center of Estoi and the Inauguration of the Foral da Cidade de Faro at the Municipal Museum. The Faro filmmaker José Maria Nunes (1930-2010) will also be honored, by giving his name to the road section that connects the Forum Algarve roundabout to the UAlg School of Health roundabout.
