The 3rd edition of the Greater Hunting Fair of the Municipality of Odemira takes place this weekend, on the 13th and 14th of September, in S. Teotónio, in an initiative of the Municipality of Odemira, in collaboration with local hunter associations. The value of the entries will revert in favor of the Odemira Volunteer Firefighters.
As in previous editions, the event will feature stands of companies and associations in the sector, exhibitions of pack dogs, trophies and hunting, hunting demonstrations with stopping dogs, falconry, target shooting and shooting with beast. Gastronomy and musical entertainment complete the program.
Highlight also for the 1st Contest of Matilhas scheduled for the 13th, at 15 pm, and the 2nd Podengos Contest on the 14th, at the same time.
“The role of Odemira in the Strategic Plan for Hunting Tourism in Alentejo” is the theme of the colloquium scheduled for Saturday at 16 pm. Parallel to the event, the biggest lunch ever will be held between hunters, family, friends and hunting fans, on Sunday at 13pm.
This event is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Odemira and the S. Teotónio Sport Hunting and Fishing Association, Taliscas Fishing and Hunting Club, Red Perdizes Hunters Association, Luzianes-Gare Hunters Association, Hunting Association and Fishing Os S. Luizenses, Hunting and Fishing Club of S. Miguel, Hunting and Fishing Club of Cavaleiro, Hunting Club of Relva Grande, Hunting and Fishing Club of Zambujeira do Mar and Shooting and Hunting Club of Vila Nova de Milfontes and Relic Packs.
The Greater Hunting Fair aims to promote an activity with great dynamism in the municipality of Odemira, which has extraordinary hunting conditions and is a favorite destination for many hunting enthusiasts. In the territory of Odemir, there are several hunting areas, with larger hunting, namely wild boar hunting, one of the most expressive modalities.
