Registration is now open for the biggest festival in Portugal dedicated to the observation of the migration of birds and nature, which will take place from October 2nd to 5th, in Sagres (Vila do Bispo).

Can you imagine a place where you can observe more than a hundred species of birds in a few days? A place with enormous biodiversity and landscape richness? And can you imagine participating in an event with more than 160 different activities, where in the morning you can watch dolphins and in the afternoon watch birds? An event that allows you to participate alone, with friends or with family?

This place is Sagres and it is here that the 5th edition of the Bird Watching Festival & Nature Activities, promoted by the Municipality of Vila do Bispo, the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds and Almargem.

In this event, the birds deserve to be highlighted, were they not the protagonists who motivated the choice of the date to coincide with the high season of the autumnal migration, when the migratory birds leave our country for the hot lands of Africa.

But this Festival is not just for birdwatchers! Anyone who enjoys nature activities, being in contact with the countryside or the sea, photography, built heritage or local history, find in the Festival's program countless reasons to participate.

The activities take place mostly in Vila de Sagres and are aimed at people of all ages and levels of knowledge on the topics, from simple curiosity seekers to beginners or specialists.

There are opportunities for everyone to participate, whether in environmental education workshops, boat trips to observe dolphins or birds, donkey or horse rides, hiking, photography mini-courses, guided tours on the history of Sagres, in bird ringing sessions, among many others.

Anyone wishing to participate should consult the Festival program and sign up for the activities you want, as many have a limited number of participants and it is normal to sell out quickly. There are free activities and others with a special price for the Festival, promoted by partner companies.

And during the four days of the Festival, you will have the opportunity to walk ringed, so to speak, with an event bracelet, to have access to the discounts that partner local agents, namely accommodation and restaurants, offer to event participants.
