Two amphibious planes and a bomber helicopter are helping to fight a fire on two fronts, which has been raging since 14:40 pm this Saturday in the Fitos area, near S. Marcos da Serra, in the interior of the municipality of Silves.
The fire, which is destroying an area of scrub and eucalyptus, is being fought by 177 workers, including 116 firefighters, supported by 44 vehicles.
The two heavy amphibious bomber planes were fired about an hour after the fire was detected, at 15:50 pm.
According to the Civil Protection website, this is the only large fire active at this time in the country.
