MackerelTwo showcookings, playful activities for children about the sea, plasticine, painting and photofish workshops, as well as participation in colloquia, are the various activities promoted by Docapesca – Portos e Lotas SA, during the 10 days of FATACIL, in Lagoa .

Thus, the company once again associates itself with FATASUL, the Municipality of Lagoa and DRAP Algarve to promote fish from the Portuguese coast as a gastronomic cultural heritage of Portugal, in one of the main exhibitions of excellent national products – the Handicraft, Tourism Fair , Agriculture, Trade and Industry of Lagoa (FATACIL).

The two showcookings of mackerel and octopus are scheduled for the 15th (20:00) and 21st of August (19:00). Docapesca will count on the collaboration of the Hotel and Tourism Schools of Faro and from Portimão.

The aim is to promote mackerel, a species with little commercial value, abundant on the Portuguese coast, nutritionally rich and accessible, and octopus, one of the most important species for artisanal fishing and fishing communities on the Portuguese mainland.

Docapesca will also promote, at FATACIL'14, various recreational activities related to the sea, such as the Sustainable Fishing Game, raising awareness of one of the most important measures for the management of fishing resources - the minimum size of catch - and the contribution responsible consumption for the sustainability of marine biodiversity.

Algarve octopusIn addition to this workshop, the Plasticinas, Paintings and FotoFish workshops will also be promoted, all of them aimed at children and young people.

At the invitation of the organization, Docapesca will also participate in the colloquium "Potencialidades do Mar do Algarve", which will take place on the 21st, at 15:00 pm, as well as in the debate "Sea – Investment in Fisheries and the Quality of Fish", which will take place on the same day, at 22 pm.

As part of Docapesca's strategic objective of Enhancement of Portuguese Fish, since 2012, numerous promotion and consumer information campaigns have been developed, in the form of cooking classes, tastings and showcookings.

These actions were distinguished, in 2013, with an Honorable Mention from the Green Project Awards and the European Business Awards for the Environment and are part of the CCL Project – Proof of Purchase at Auction -, whose label, in the colors of the National Flag, allows for the final consumer to identify the national fish, the traceability to the auction where the fish was traded and the fishing gear used. It is a seal of information and trust and is a guarantee of compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.
