Summer days can also be spent doing sports, for those who choose Praia da Alagoa, in Altura, to go swimming. Castro Marim City Council will promote a sports entertainment program in this bathing area from 15 July to 31 August, in collaboration with Clube Recreativo Alturense, with free activities aimed at various age groups.
Football, volleyball, handball, maintenance gymnastics and different recreational and recreational activities are the proposals, which aim to “present to vacationers the potential of the territory of Castro Marim for sports practice”.
The initiative is also part of the XIII Sea Swimming Competition – Vila de Castro Marim, on August 10th, organized by the Sports, Recreative and Cultural Group “Leões do Sul Futebol Clube”, an event where dozens of federated athletes have already guaranteed the participation. and non-federated and «which has also consolidated itself as a tourist promotion poster for the county».
«Making sport accessible to all and also energizing and promoting the beach as a place of excellence for sport, transforming and encouraging traditional trips to the beach, are the goals of this project, a challenge launched to local authorities in 1993/4 by the Institute of Sport of Portugal», illustrated the Chamber of Castro Marim.
