Olhanense returned to work today with his eyes set on returning to the Premier League. António Conceição – as had already been announced – is the coach chosen to fulfill this task, having been officially presented this afternoon, flanked by club president Isidoro Sousa and SAD Administrator Igor Campedelli.
António Conceição wants to enforce the “First League status” that Olhanense still enjoys, but for that, “it is necessary to show it in practice. This is a club that has to take the Premier League train and I came to help catch it”.
However, the coach emphasizes that it is “premature to assume that it will happen. first t
we have to evaluate the squad according to the players that we will still have available”.
The constitution of the squad is one of the problems that António Conceição has to solve. The club currently has fifteen players under contract, including the four confirmed reinforcements – André Pires, Diogo Melo, Weldon Andrade and Dani – plus six players who will train on experience. The coach regrets that fact and says that “with twenty days to go before the season starts, we should already be working in another way”.
In a room with many partners watching the coach's presentation, Isidoro Sousa followed the same cautious speech in relation to the climb, but at the same time taking it as a goal.
“We are not going to promise many things, as we have had many difficulties and it has been difficult to gather the conditions to form the squad. Although we don't want to put too much pressure on the team regarding the climb, we aim to repeat the feat of five years ago”, he declared.
Igor Campedelli, on the other hand, highlighted the reasons for choosing António Conceição as coach and reinforced the objective of returning to the «great life together», assuming mistakes last season that led to Olhanense's descent.
“We have hired an experienced coach, who has already made it through three different clubs. He will be a central figure in this project and with him we will form the team in a great team effort. We have to learn from the example of last season where we made some mistakes. This season the team has to present itself as a candidate, not sure of the climb, but as a candidate for promotion”.

The remaining technical team is made up of assistant coach Luís Baltazar, physical trainer Hélder Moreira and goalkeeper coach José Onofre.
By the end of the week, more reinforcements should arrive in Olhão, which, according to the direction, are practically closed. For now, Diogo Melo ex-Portimonense and Weldon, who already worked for Benfica, are the most famous names.
Although the squad is already short, the departures of contracted players can also happen. Jander and Lucas Souza have a market and the direction is waiting for a tempting proposal to free them.
There are other cases that are also being considered, namely the possible inclusion of Rui Duarte in the squad. The Olhanense captain has ended his contract, but he may return during the off-season.
Jakub Vojtus is another doubt. The Slovak has a contract, but has not yet returned to work. The integration of the striker depends on the market movements of the club rubronegro.
