The Castro Marim City Council promotes, during the months of July and August, “As Noites de Cinema”, an initiative that has been taking place for 16 years and is renowned for bringing box office hits to Altura and Castro Marim.
With a program that is concerned with meeting the tastes of different age groups, this year's poster ranges from children's animation films, such as “Mr. Peabody and Sherman”, until big 2014 premieres such as “Maléfica”.
In Castro Marim, the sessions take place outdoors, at Praça 1º de Maio, on Mondays and Thursdays, in an initiative that is distinguished by taking the 7th art to the street. In Altura, the films are shown at the Cine-Estúdio, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In both Castro Marim and Altura, admission is free and sessions start at 21 pm.
"The Movie Nights" are part of the set of diverse cultural proposals that the municipality of Castromarinense develops at this time of greater affluence to the county, completing the tourist offer of those who chose Castro Marim as a holiday destination and contributing, in the same way, to boosting local commercial activity.
