It started at 22 pm and continued throughout the night in a happy and relaxed atmosphere where travel agents, hoteliers, businessmen and journalists from the region were present to celebrate the arrival of summer, a season that marks the peak of the Algarve tourist year.
As for the objective of the party promoted by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) in partnership with Processcard, that was clear: «To bring together all those who during the year do an extraordinary job in favor of the Algarve, valuing their investments but also this region which continues to record good tourist results», said the organisation's president, Desidério Silva, in an allusion to the most recent figures released by the National Statistics Institute that point to an increase in overnight stays (+34%), of guests (+33,4 %) and total revenue (+25,4%) in the Algarve destination in April.
On the occasion that also served to present the novelties of this year's AlgarvePass tourist points and discount card, the president of RTA also thanked the «effort and dedication of all involved, from the public and private sectors, in the cause of tourism in the Algarve. It is important that we work in the same direction to reach the level of excellence”, continued Desidério Silva.
Summer officially arrives tomorrow and with it also thousands of tourists looking to the Algarve for a few days of summer rest. The indicators, for now, allow us to foresee a year «in which the numbers may surpass those of 2013», concluded Desidério Silva in a positive tone to the professionals of the sector.
