Marta Hugon, Thierry Eliez and the Torunski Brothers are the headliners of the Lagoa Jazz Festival, which, from June 5th to 7th, is back after a three-year break and returns to its favorite place: Sítio das Fontes , on the banks of the River Arade.

This tenth edition of Jazz at the Fountains, again under the direction of António Palma, kicks off on Thursday, June 5th, with «Pianobatuque», with the Argentine Pablo Lapidusas, on piano, and the Portuguese Joel Silva, on drums.

In the main show, the highlight goes to the Poles Torunski Brothers, duo that joins Piotr Torunski (bass clarinet) and Greg Torunski (alto saxophone).

On Friday, the 6th, the French amphitheater takes to the stage, with an arm of the Rio Arade as a backdrop. Thierry Eliez (piano, organ and voice), accompanied by Daniel Ouvrard (bass) and Philippe Eliez (drums).

On Saturday, the 7th, at the end of the Lagoa Jazz Festival, it will be the turn of one of the most recognized Portuguese jazz voices to perform: Marta Hugon.

The singer will be accompanied by a luxury quartet: Filipe Melo (piano), Mário Delgado (guitar), Bernardo Moreira (double bass) and André Sousa Machado (drums).

But to draw attention to this Jazz Festival, which has the quality of the poster and the location as its greatest assets, the organization also promotes presentations by the band Dixieland, on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, in various locations in the municipality.

So, if on one of these days you cross the streets with Diogo Picão (alto sax), Jean Marc Charmier (trumpet), Xavier Ribeiro (trombone), Diogo Costa (bass trombone) and Henry Sousa (percussion), don't be surprised: it's just an aperitif for the three nights of good music at Sítio das Fontes.

With the Parque Municipal das Fontes de Estômbar enclosure opening every day at 19 pm, in addition to the music festival (whose shows start at 00 pm), there will also be a painting exhibition «Reflections of jazz», by Patico, as well as a service of bar, merchandising sales, and a Disco Fair.

After the concerts, at the edge of the mill boiler and under the light of the moon and stars, the Espaço Lounge will be animated by Djs Yacobian (6th and 7th), who will present a selection of jazz from countries such as Ethiopia, Turkey, Israel , Lebanon, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, Tunisia, Morocco, Ghana, among others, and by DJ Alexandre Ramos (day 5).

The Lagoa Jazz Festival is a partnership between the Municipality of Lagoa and “Ao Vivo – Espectáculos e Eventos”, part of the annual program “Lagoa, um Mar de Sentidos”.

Tickets cost 8 euros per day or 20 euros for a three-day pass, and are on sale at the Convento de S. José and the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa, and, on concert days, at Sítio das Fontes.
