This year, children and young people in Portimão can choose from a wide range of activities at the Museum, Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library and Quinta Pedagógica, which have prepared a set of proposals for them to spend their free time in a fun and educational way, without forgetting another edition of the already traditional Sports Holidays.

Thus, at the Museu de Portimão, the Educational Workshop proposes “An Adventure in the Artificial Recife”, a program of activities with lots of fun that will take place between June 16th and July 18th, with the formation of five groups.

Aimed at young people from 7 to 12 years old, the initiative aims to stimulate their creativity, the capacity for expression and group work, with a set of educational activities of a playful nature, which will take place in the morning, between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm , and in the afternoon, from 14:30 pm to 17:00 pm.

Quinta Pedagógica de Portimão also offers an attractive program of initiatives aimed at children from 6 to 10 years old, which between June 16 and August 15 will privilege direct contact with nature.

Open to curiosity, the desire to experiment and the desire to learn, in this rural space in the heart of the city, it is possible to practice various traditional trades, simultaneously with food and environmental education and the study of fauna and flora.

Suggestively titled “Adventures on the Farm”, for this program there will be a morning shift, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm, while in the afternoon the activities take place between 14:00 pm and 17:00 pm, with enrollment costing 12 euros per shift, or 20 euros on a regular basis. full day.

In turn, the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library once again promotes the “Five Stories, Five Weeks and a Night” project during the so-called big vacations, which between July 28 and August 30 will enable children between 6 and 10 years old. participation in workshops and workshops inspired by children's literature.

Each week, the young participants are invited to tell and write stories, build puppets, paint scenarios, create imaginary worlds, in a word, have fun, inspired by the imaginary world created by five children's literature writers, in an action always taking place between 10:00 and 12:30.

For this purpose, five stories will be proposed, one per week, with the following schedule: from the 28th of July to the 1st of August – “This book is calling you (don't you hear?”), by Isabel Minhós Martins and Madalena Matoso; August 4th to 8th – “Butterfly Ears” (Luísa Aguilar); August 11th to 14th – “The Adventures of Pinocchio” (Carlo Collodi); August 18th to 22nd – “Frederico” (Leo Lionni); August 25th to 29th – “O Cuquedo” (Clara Cunha and Paulo Galindro).

Enrollments will be made in person at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, with each guardian filling out a form, where they will select the preferred week or weeks, a maximum of two per child.

This project will culminate on August 30 with the Special Night at the Library initiative, where children will play games and adventures in the dark within the scope of the five stories, and their parents and guardians will be able to see the work carried out during the five weeks in which the initiative took place.

Finally, the 24th edition of the Sports Holidays is already being prepared with a view to providing young participants with multiple sporting, recreational, cultural, civic and environmental education activities.

This initiative, inspired by the motto “Toca a Mexer”, will bring together more than 1500 children and young people from 6 to 16 years old and is divided into three shifts, which will run from June 30th to August 8th, with the aim of providing healthy occupation of leisure during the summer holidays, through sporting, recreational, cultural, civic and environmental education activities.
