Vila Real de Santo António will have an open-air cinema, between the 4th and 7th of September, brought by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA). The Algarve municipality was chosen to integrate the cycle «Cinema Português em Movimento», of that entity, which takes place for the second time.
The sessions always take place at 21 pm, in open-air areas of three parishes in the municipality, namely the Parque de Caravanas (riverside area of VRSA), the Camping Park and Avenida Marginal de Monte Gordo and Vila Nova de Cacela.
On display are the films «A Bela eo Paparazzo», by António-Pedro Vasconcelos; «Amália – The Movie», by Carlos Coelho da Silva; «Fados», by Carlos Saura; “dot.com”, by Luís Galvão Teles; and the documentary “pt.es”, by Pedro Sena Nunes. The projections will count, whenever possible, with the presence of the directors and producers, “thus contributing to the cultural enrichment of the populations”.
The cycle is part of the official commemorations of the 40th anniversary of the 25th of April, therefore including an animated short film alluding to Freedom Day, which will precede the sessions. It also marks the ICA's 40 years of activity.
For Luís Gomes, Mayor of VRSA, «VRSA's adhesion to this project is part of the cultural decentralization policy carried out by the municipality and constitutes a cultural offer aimed at all audiences».
In addition to VRSA, this 2nd edition includes ten other municipalities, namely Alfândega da Fé, Aljezur, Arganil, Arronches, Borga, Idanha-a-Nova, Meda, Oleiros, Penamacor, Sabugal. In total, projections will be shown in around 40 locations.
The ICA has the partners of RTP (media partner), the Superior School of Social Communication, Monstra – Lisbon Animation Festival, the participating municipalities and the producers and directors involved.
