More than 100 people boarded the «Boa Esperança» caravel in Seville to taste the flavors of the Algarve during a cooking show and to find out more about the region that is known to everyone as the greatest Portuguese holiday destination.

The action brought together journalists, official entities, trade and Spanish opinion leaders around the Algarve destination, in a charm action organized by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) last Monday, the 9th. For this, the caravel «Good Hope» sailed from Lagos to Seville .

The model of the promotional initiative was innovative for the guests, who had never set foot on a vessel similar to those used in the maritime epic of the Portuguese Discoveries.

With the caravel decorated to perfection, after having sailed from the Algarve to the wharf of Delícias in Seville, where it anchored, the action opened showing the good tastes of typical Algarve cuisine in a cataplana made by chef Augusto Lima, from the Tertúlia Algarvia restaurant, in Faro.

To accompany it, whites and reds from the region were served, at a time when there is already much talk about the new Algarve Wine Route.

This moment was attended by the consul of Portugal in Seville Jorge Monteiro, the direction of the Diputación Provincial de Sevilla and the president of RTA Desidério Silva, who had the opportunity to promote the Algarve in interviews with the channel Sur Rádio, EsRádio, Cadena Ser and the Diario de Huelva.

“The balance of the initiative is clearly positive, as many representatives of Andalusian entities, companies and media were present. I remind you that Andalusia has more than eight million inhabitants and registers around 39 million tourist overnight stays, 20 million of which are foreigners. That's what makes the community attractive for an action of this kind in June», says Desidério Silva.

The president of RTA also met with Fernando Villalobos, president of the Diputación de Sevilla, the following day (10), to boost the offer of the two Iberian destinations and renew the agreement signed in 2013, in the context of tourism cooperation between them.

O cooking show it was just the first of many actions planned aboard the caravel during its trip to Andalusia.

Until the 15th of June, the vessel will continue to be moored in Seville and then head towards the Bay of Cádiz, Malaga and Almeria, being open to public visits and offering for sale various articles from merchandising of the Algarve brand.
