University students from all over the country will compete in the National University Championship (CNU) in Outdoor Track Athletics, tomorrow, Saturday. The Athletics Track of Faro will host the sporting event, which will feature more than a hundred athletes.

The Algarve academy will be represented by eight athletes, four male and as many female, who will compete in the Long Jump, Pole Vault, Javelin and Weight Throwing, 10.000m March, 100m, 400m, 1500m, 3000m hurdles and 5000m.

«Highlights for Filipa Ferreira, AAUALG athlete, currently national university vice-champion, in the modality of 3.000m March, who competes in this Championship, the 10.000m», highlighted the Academic Association of the University of Algarve, host of the event.

UAlg is already in the history of university athletics championships, as one of its former students continues to hold the university record in the 1500 meters. This mark was achieved by the now Olympic athlete and well-known figure in national athletics Ana Dias, in 1999.

In addition to representatives from the Algarve university, athletes from academies in Lisbon, Porto, Aveiro, Leiria, Covilhã, Minho, among others, will be present. This event, held under the aegis of the Academic Federation of University Sports, has the support of the Algarve Athletics Association, the University of Algarve, the Municipality of Faro, the Red Cross and RUA FM.
