The PS was the most voted party in the municipality of Olhão, with an advantage of more than 8 percentage points in relation to the PSD/CDS-PP coalition. The CDU was the third most voted force, but the BE managed to stay ahead of the MPT, the fourth most voted party nationwide.

The socialists got 28,98 percent of the vote, 5 percent more than in 2009. The right-wing coalition «Aliança Portugal» got 20,23 percent, a figure far below that achieved by the separate PSD and CDS in the last European. At that time, the combined votes of these two party forces rose to 32,5 percent.

The CDU also rose, in Olhão, from 12,23% in 2009 to 14,71. The BE, which dropped more than 8 percent from the last European ballot, got 8,60 percent of the vote. The MPT, which had a meteoric rise in 2014, obtained 7,69 percent.

Abstention was above the national average, at 73,82 percent.
