Israel's ambassador Tzipora Rimon, on her first official visit to the Algarve, made a point of personally greeting the mayor of Albufeira, with whom she exchanged ideas about the region and the possibility of future cooperation.

The diplomat intends to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation with the Algarve's municipalities, having shown interest in getting to know the reality in the municipality up close.

Chamber president Carlos Silva e Sousa released some important data about the municipality of Albufeire, with special emphasis on Tourism, the main sector in the region.

During the meeting, Tzipora Rimon, who speaks the Portuguese language, said that the Algarve, as well as Albufeira, have many points in common with Israel and the Jewish community, namely in terms of history and tourism.

Tzipora Rimon is from Israel, where he graduated in Economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, with a specialization in International Trade.

Throughout his career, he held important positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the United Nations General Assembly and at the Israeli Embassies in Copenhagen and Lisbon.

She was also minister-adviser for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Israel in Rome, consul general of Israel in Chicago (USA) and ambassador of Israel in Brazil. Since August 2013, she has held the position of Israel's ambassador to Portugal.
