The PS achieved one of the biggest victories in the region, in Sunday's elections, in the municipality of Castro Marim, where 42,13 percent of voters chose to vote for the Socialists. In this municipality of Sotavento, the curiosity of the tie between BE and MPT, who each won 5,95 percent of the votes, stands out.

The second most voted force, the PSD/CDS coalition, fared far behind the PS, with 21,85 percentage points, a difference of more than 20 percent. In 2009, the Social Democrats alone managed 33,35 percent, against 32,83% for the PS. Adding the percentage guaranteed by the CDS-PP five years ago (5,09 pp), the fall of the two parties combined is more than 16 percent.

Here, too, the CDU asserted itself as the third most voted force, albeit with a percentage below the national average. The PCP/PEV 10,38 percent of the votes of Castro-Marinenses (6,41 percent in 2009).

The BE and the MPT tied, having each obtained the vote of 110 voters from that municipality. In the case of BE, there was a considerable drop from 10,92% achieved five years ago, to 5,95 percentage points achieved this Sunday. Abstention was 68,63%.
