Adriana Nogueira, professor at the University of Algarve and PhD in Literature and Classical Culture, is the next guest of the Lecture Cycle “Book: past, present and future”, which will take place on May 9th, at 18 pm, at the Álvaro de Campos Library , in Tavira.

This lecture will deal with books, libraries and readings in classical antiquity, addressing such contemporary issues as copies, plagiarism and copyright.

It will also present some proposals to better take advantage of what has come down to us from the Ancients, that is, how to enjoy, with the highest possible quality, the reading of ancient texts.

Adriana Freire Nogueira, PhD in Literature and Classical Culture, is currently director of the University of Algarve Library and professor at the Department of Arts and Humanities.

With a vast work published in the area of ​​classical studies, in which she also presents highly relevant translation works (such as Eutidemo and Theetetus, by Plato) and several conferences, in Portugal and abroad, Adriana Freire Nogueira is She is also a writer of children's books (such as “The true adventures of Hercules” and “The new adventures of Hercules) and was the author of a blog, A Senhora Sócrates, in which she offered notes of classic texts as reflections on current affairs .

She claims to be an enthusiastic classicist of many other types of knowledge. His participation as resident chronicler of the supplement Cultura Sul do Postal do Algarve, as well as the Reading Clubs that he has been promoting, demonstrate his multifaceted character.
