Improving surveillance, detection and fire fighting is the main objective of the Municipal Operational Plan of the Municipality of Loulé, which was presented and approved last April 10th, at a meeting of the Municipal Forestry Against Fire Committee meeting.

At the same time, the municipality is promoting an awareness-raising program among the population, which has been alerted to “the obligation to clean the vegetation on the land surrounding their homes and to respect safety measures in the burning of leftovers. agroforestry, taking into account the approach of the critical period of forest fires».

At the same meeting, the current status of the Municipal Plan for the Defense of Forests Against Fires and a brief presentation of the National Fire and Soil Effects Network, by the University of Algarve, were presented.

The POM is part of the Municipal Plan for the Defense of the Forest against Fire (book III), in its operational aspect, in particular in the actions of surveillance, detection, inspection, 1st intervention, combat, aftermath and post-fire surveillance. It includes the survey of means and resources, contacts, territorial sectorization, operational device and decision support cartography.

"This document is updated annually, and must be approved by the Municipal Commission for the Defense of Forests against Fires by April 15 of each year, to be subsequently sent to the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests," explained the Chamber of Loulé .
