From Monchique to Silves, 28,2 km, which in reality were more than 30. What was worth it was the reinforced breakfast before the departure…

Wednesday, April 9, start of the walk at 9:00 am:

Two of our hikers left today, but only after a sumptuous breakfast, in the «Charrete», in Monchique.

Breakfast was right on the way, because going up to Picota is not easy… but the landscape is fantastic, both on the way and up there. It was a clear day and we had a spectacular 360º view.

During the ascent, it was the first time that we saw albardeira roses on this crossing.

Then he went down and see that the descents punish other muscles as well.

We went to Foz de Besteiros, where a refill was waiting for us: fig jam, orange jam, raspberries, strawberries, oranges, two types of tea. It was an unusual technical stop, but very good and healthy.

Needless to say, all of this completely evaporated when the new climbs started…and there were many, many climbs, some that looked like walls raised in front of us.

Along the way, we even saw a snake, which generated some excitement.

And there the ascents and more ascents continued, some descents in areas completely devoid of vegetation, where the monoculture of the eucalyptusland.

We started at 9:00 am and it was 18:00 when we arrived at Enxerim. He finished? Not! Because we would still have to walk a couple of kilometers to Firefighters in Silves, where we'll stay overnight.

Dinner today will also be very good, at «Rui», in Silves.

Tomorrow we will have “only” 27,6 km ahead, between Silves and São Bartolomeu de Messines.
