The Municipal Museum of Faro, Tertúlia Algarvia, Igreja da Sé and Fábrica da Cerveja are some of the places in Vila-Adentro de Faro where design and creativity will be “on the loose”, on May 30th and 31st. The Algarve Design Meeting is about to arrive and will bring together in the Algarve capital people and entities formally or informally linked to the area, from professionals and companies and researchers, professors and students, opening the doors to all those interested in the subject.
«Our objective is to continue to promote the importance and intervention of these strategic and fundamental areas for social, economic or cultural development. In this context, we organized a series of seminars with the participation of several national and international speakers, who will share their experiences or present their projects», describes the National Association of Designers, which organizes the event in partnership with the Escola Superior of Education and Communication at the University of Algarve.
One of the most relevant points of this event will be the public presentation of the videomapping works on the façade of Igreja da Sé, carried out by students of the Communication Design and Animated Image course at the University of Algarve-ESEC and by students from the Faculty of Communication and Multimedia , from the University of Tomas Bata – Czech Republic.
At the same time, there will be a space dedicated «to the exhibition and marketing of products, which have somehow sought new forms of expression and visibility in these areas of intervention», in the Municipal Museum of Faro, as well as a set of thematic workshops (Tertúlia Algarvia), which will be held in parallel with the seminars.
In terms of exhibitions, the exhibition of works by final year students of the Communication Design and Animated Image course at the University of Algarve will be inaugurated, which can be seen in the different spaces where the initiative takes place. The closing party will be at the emblematic Fábrica da Cerveja, in the space recently occupied by the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos.
The Algarve Design Meeting is an international event that promotes the areas of Design and Audiovisuals. It takes place annually in the city of Faro and is organized by the Department of Communication, Arts and Design of the University of Algarve – ESEC and the AND – National Association of Designers.
The 2014 edition, the 4th of the event, has the institutional support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Municipality of Faro. Admission is free.
