Promote reflection on the best way to put the new package of Community Funds at the service of regional economic development and place is one of the objectives of the “2014/20 A New Paradigm in Municipalities” initiative, which JSD/Faro and the Algarve Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists will promote tomorrow, Friday, in the Auditorium of the Municipal Museum of Faro, starting at 18 hours.
Speakers invited to speak at the event are Secretary of State for Local Administration António Leitão Amaro, specialist in European affairs and business consultant Nuno Vitorino and MEP Carlos Coelho (subject to confirmation).
From them, it is expected that they will contribute to answering some questions, namely: “Is this the instrument that will help to leverage the country's economic growth?”; "Are the municipalities prepared to take advantage of this new financial aid package effectively and efficiently?"; and “What strategic priorities should regional and local public entities set for the next 7 years?”.
The promoters of this event consider that «the moment we are going through is of extreme importance for Portugal, as there are encouraging signs in the country's economic performance, however the development starts with the capacity of the Municipalities/Regions to develop policies to leverage the economy in their respective areas. territories'.
The intervention of the guests is followed by a period of questions and answers, moderated by the deputy coordinator of the Regional Delegation of the Algarve of the Order of Economists Carlos Manso.
The conference will be launched by the president of the Chamber of Faro Rogério Bacalhau, followed by interventions by the coordinator of the Algarve Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists Pedro Pimpão and the president of the Social Democrat Youth of Faro Hugo Vieira.
